In addition to the Office of the Chief of Police, the New Milford Police Department is organized into three divisions which include: Field Services, Investigations, as well as an Administrative Division. The Field Services Division is a core component of the department as it provides services ranging from general call response and investigations to specialty services such as K-9 demonstrations or child safety seat installations.
The Field Services Division is commanded by Lieutenant Earl Wheeler, who oversees a team of 6 Sergeants, 25 Patrol Officers, 3 School Resource Officers and our Parking Enforcement Officer. The Field Services Division is often the most visible, as Officers provide 24-hour, year-round call response and service to the New Milford community.
In addition to their general patrol functions, these Officers also staff specialty teams that include, but are not limited to: three K-9 teams, crash reconstruction (CRT), dive team, bike patrol, child safety seat technicians, and honor guard
